The Massachusetts School Counselors Association (MASCA) is dedicated to providing information and services that will support the counseling profession. Joining MASCA not only keeps counselors connected and informed but also strengthens the guidance profession as a whole.

Types of Membership

Professional Membership
$45 Annual Dues
Only those individuals holding Professional Membership, Retired Membership (if otherwise eligible for Professional Membership), or any category of Honorary Membership in the Association will be eligible to vote, hold office, and/or serve on the Governing Board and/or Executive Committee of the Association. Professional membership in the Association shall be open to those who are certified or approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education as guidance counselors or guidance directors and (1) who are currently or in the past have been employed as school counselors or guidance directors in schools in Massachusetts; or (2) who are currently employed in a full-time capacity in counselor education, college counseling and/or admissions in colleges in Massachusetts which are members of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and/or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and/or the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Counselors eligible for professional membership will not be eligible for any other category of membership defined in this section except Retired Membership. Professional members shall be required to provide the Association with their certificate number at the time of membership renewal to qualify for this category of membership.

Associate/Affiliate Membership
$45 Annual Dues
In this Association shall be open to those who are not certified nor approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education as guidance counselors or guidance directors but who are employed in a full-time capacity in counselor education or admissions at colleges which are members of a regional accrediting agency of the National Association of Schools and Colleges and/or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and/or the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Associate/Affiliate membership shall also be open to any person, institution, or organization interested in guidance and counseling and not eligible for any other type of membership.

Student Membership
$15 Annual Dues
Student membership in this Association shall be open to those who are enrolled in a degree program leading to certification in guidance and counseling and recommended for membership by a school official. After applying online, have your school official (e.g., professor) send an email to membership@masca.org recommending you for the MASCA student membership.

Retired Membership
$15 Annual Dues
Retired members of the Massachusetts School Counselors Association who have reached the age of 55 and are retired shall be eligible for retired membership status.

Renewing Membership

Your Membership Renewal Date is indicated by year and month on your Counselor's Notebook address label.  Renew your membership online anytime. If you do not pay by credit card, send your check to our Membership Coordinator:
