The Mainstream Center at Clarke School for the Deaf/Center for Oral Education in Northampton, MA.
Each year we offer workshops designed for Adjustment Counselors, Guidance Counselors, School Counselors, etc. These workshops focus on students with hearing loss in mainstream schools. Most hearing impaired students find themselves as the only one in their classroom or school with hearing loss. Our workshops address issues such as loneliness and self-esteem, to name a few. In addition to these workshops, we host an annual 2-day fall conference each October in Springfield, MA which features a Short Course which is designed especially for classroom teachers who have a student with hearing loss for the first time. This year's conference theme is "The Roads to Literacy".
